The Outpost (2020) is a war drama film directed by Rod Lurie. It is based on the non-fiction book “The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor” by Jake Tapper. The film depicts the Battle of Kamdesh, a real-life confrontation that took place during the war in Afghanistan.

The story centers around Combat Outpost Keating, a remote U.S. Army base located in northeastern Afghanistan, situated in a vulnerable valley surrounded by mountains. The outpost is continuously under threat from Taliban forces due to its exposed position.

The film introduces a group of American soldiers stationed at Keating, highlighting their camaraderie, struggles, and the daily challenges they face.
